There’s nothing we love more than discussions about legal definitions of social enterprise! At its most simple we believe a social enterprise is a business that reinvests some (or all) of its profits for a social or environmental purpose. For the purpose of delivering support at The Business Group we let organisations self-identify as social enterprises, regardless of their legal structure.
These businesses make a significant contribution to economic equality, social justice, and environmental sustainability and we are proud to work in the Social Enterprise City of Salford.
As of 2024 we know there are at least 275 social enterprises in Salford with a combined turnover of more than £450m employing more than 5,000 people.
Salford CVS have been commissioned by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority to provide business support to social enterprises in Salford.
