Thursday 20th March 2025, 11.30am (meet from 11.15am, afternoon tea served 1pm).
Join us on a guided walk to explore the history around the Crescent and to meet local business owners and residents.
We’ll cover a variety of stories, from more serious to light-hearted. Find out about a sweet business, a Blitz bombing, an orphanage, the invention of the weekend, ‘wholesome’ leisure, nurses, police, firemen, a lost church, a manure problem, hair-raising experiments, and more.
Meet by the war memorial at the junction of Oldfield Road and Chapel Street (opposite Salford Royal Apartments) from around 11.15am, with the walk setting off at 11.30am. We will finish with an afternoon tea at Salford Museum & Art Gallery at 1pm.
The tour will last about 90 minutes, and will go ahead rain or shine so please dress for the weather and an urban walk.
Your guide will be Philippa Vishnyakov, a qualified Green Badge Guide.
