The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is currently rolling out the Enterprise Adviser Network.

The Enterprise Adviser Network is a national network that connects schools and colleges with employers and careers programme providers to work together to create meaningful encounters with the world of work for young people.

The network is based on evidence that a young person who has four or more encounters with an employer is 86% less likely to be unemployed or not in education or training, and can earn up to 18% more during their career.

A pilot of the network was run last year with 25 schools across Greater Manchester and the roll out is due to the success of those partnerships.

GMCA is looking for passionate and enthusiastic senior people from the businesses community to join the network as ‘Enterprise Advisors’. This will involve partnering with a local school and supporting the schools senior management team to address the key barriers their young people face when transitioning from education to work. This is a voluntary position and both schools and the potential Enterprise Advisers need to sign up for an academic year but of course this could be longer depending on how the relationship progresses.
