The Business Group Salford was formed in 1999 by local business owners. Our members include sole traders, limited companies, partnerships, charities, community organisations, co-operatives, social enterprises, public sector partners, further and higher education institutions and PLCs with turnovers ranging from less than £2k a year to those exceeding £0.5bn.
Membership is free. Our support to local organisations ranges from brokerage/sign-posting, seminars and workshops, newsletters and promotional opportunities through to advice on business planning, funding and finance, legal support and mentoring, and is all provided by businesses for businesses.
The role of development manager will include organising The Business Group’s regular programme of events, workshops and seminars as well as supporting delivery of the annual Salford Business Awards and regular Social Enterprise City events. The successful applicant will also be responsible for securing funding from a variety of sources to underpin the activity of The Business Group.
Fundraising from corporates, individuals, trusts and public funding bodies.
Writing and submitting funding applications.
Negotiating sponsorship deals.
Event preparation, management and marketing.
Securing guests, speakers and facilitators.
Liasing with partners and sponsors.
Produce quarterly reports.
Values driven self-starter with excellent initiative, resourcefulness and the ability to work with a variety of external clients and partners.
An effective networker with excellent communication skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
Track record of managing and delivering, on time and on budget, similar events.
Previous experience in securing funding from a variety of sources.
Salary: Negotiable. Circa £21,000 – £26,000 dependent upon experience, plus expenses and generous holiday package. 37.5 hours per week. Flexible work options.
